A Nigerian-born Afropop superstar Mr Eazi has dropped his highly anticipated solo album, ‘The Evil Genius’ via his label emPawa Africa. He also dropped “Exit” featuring Soweto Gospel Choir.

Produced by Kel-P, the album showcases Mr Eazi’s personal exploration of themes like love, betrayal, loneliness, and family through three distinct acts. The project incorporates a diverse range of styles and influences, including Ghanaian highlife, grime, and gospel.

The album features guest appearances from Angelique Kidjo, Tekno, Efya, Whoisakin, Joeboy, and South Africa’s Soweto Gospel Choir. It also boasts an impressive lineup of contributing producers, such as Kel-P, Knucks, Michael Brun, M.O.G Beatz, Andre Vibez, Killbeatz, E Kelly, Type A, Yung Willis, Nonso Amadi, Phantom, KDream, and Mr Eazi himself.

In a groundbreaking fusion of African music and contemporary art, Mr Eazi commissioned visual artists from across the continent to create unique physical art pieces for each of the album’s 16 tracks. This ambitious pan-African art project, curated by Mr Eazi, has gained recognition from art-world figures like Marina Abramović and media outlets including ARTNews and The Guardian.

The album cover art, created by renowned Nigerian stylist, designer, and photographer Daniel Obasi, draws inspiration from the composition and themes of The Last Supper and David’s prayer of Psalm 23. It reflects the central themes of love, hate, friendship, and betrayal explored in The Evil Genius.

Completing the album rollout, Mr Eazi has already released several singles including Legalize, Chop Time, No Friend, Advice, and Fefe Ne Fefe. The latest single, Exit, features the iconic South African vocal group, Soweto Gospel Choir, and its video was filmed atop South Africa’s legendary Drakensberg escarpment.
