Amakipkip Issues Apology For Unauthorised AKA Tribute T-Shirts

South African streetwear brand Amakipkip has issued a heartfelt apology for the creation and sale of unauthorised AKA tribute t-shirts.

The brand expressed remorse for any offence caused for producing and selling the t-shirts without getting consent AKA’s family.

In their statement, Amakipkip extended their regrets to a wide range of stakeholders, including AKA’s family; his mom and dad Lynn and Tony as well as his bother Stefan Forbes, The Megacy and the general public.

Amakipkip stated that their intention with the tribute t-shirts was to “pay homage to AKA’s legacy and seek justice”.

This unauthorised use of AKA’s image caused a lot of controversy and backlash from fans, the music industry, and the general public. The incident shed light on the importance of respecting intellectual property rights and the sensitivities of the artist’s legacy.
